Is the Metabolic Typing Diet Right For You?

Standardized nutritional approaches fail to recognize that, for genetic reasons, people are all very different from one another on a biochemical or metabolic level.

Due to widely varying hereditary influences, we all process or utilize foods and nutrients very differently. So the very same nutritional protocol that enables one person to lead a long healthy life full of vitality can cause serious illness in someone else.

Of course, the idea of a designing a diet based on genetic differences is not new.

The roots of the concept of metabolic individuality can be traced to the distant past. The 5,000 year old East Indian system of medicine known as Ayurveda was based on the interaction of the 5 elements and the 7 energy centers in the individual. Primary treatment addressed the symptom or disease by first determining one’s dosha (metabolic type).

Similarly, the ancient system of Chinese medicine recognized 5 elemental, constitutional types. Diagnosis and treatment in ancient Egyptian medicine was based on the 7 organ systems in the body. Greek physicians were concerned, as Hippocrates stated, with the patient who has the disease instead of the disease that has the patient, and evaluated the 4 humors (liver-bile metabolic types). Hence, the inspiration behind the ancient Roman philosopher Lucretius saying, “One man’s meat is another man’s poison.”

Balance Specific Foods with Individual Need

Eating a meal that is right for your metabolic type will improve your energy, increase your mental capacities, and boost your emotional well-being. Each meal should leave you feeling well-satisfied for several hours with steady, predictable energy levels.

But if you experience any of the symptoms listed below an hour or so after eating;

• Still feel hungry even though you are physically full
• Develop a sweet craving
• Energy levels drops
• Feel hyper, nervous, angry or irritable
• Feel depressed

…then it might be due to an improper combination of proteins, fats and carbohydrates at your meals.

You might even be eating the perfect foods for your metabolism, but having too much of one type of food in place of another can easily produce the symptoms listed above.

Everyone Has Their Own Unique Metabolic Type

Many people are eating high-quality nutritious foods and are still quite sick. They haven’t touched sugar or junk food in ages and still suffer with many health problems. There are a number of reasons for this, but one of the major physical ones is related to the fact that they are not eating the appropriate food selections for their metabolic type.

Metabolic Typing is a system for optimizing whole body health. Diet and nutritional supplements are used to address the individual at a fundamental metabolic level, allowing for increased energy, weight loss and greater resistance to disease.

By conducting a series of simple tests the practitioner is able to determine each person’s Metabolic Type. Equipped with this knowledge, the individual can knowingly select the foods and nutritional supplements that are tailored to his or her specific metabolism.

Many diets claim to promote energy and weight loss, but they only work effectively in the long term if they are compatible with your Metabolic Type. This explains why one person can lose weight on a particular diet, while another person might gain weight on exactly the same diet! Not all foods and supplements are equally good for all people.

Metabolic Typing is the missing link that explains why one person’s food may literally be another person’s poison and offers each person the optimal program for maximizing health.
